After extensive development of the sodium-cooled FBRs in western countries (throughout the 1960s and 1970s), they are now being widely developed in Asia (Japan, China, India and Russia).

Since 1984, The French Sodium School is open to foreign trainees who work with sodium technology.
Courses and exercises can be delivered in English.

Within the framework of The 2002 Cooperation Agreement between France and Japan, every year French teachers deliver instruction about sodium technology to dozens of their Japanese colleagues, members of the operating staffs of Japanese sodium-cooled reactors.

The French Sodium School also participates to the training of the specialists who are involved in the studies for future nuclear reactors (Generation IV forum).
